This is quite possibly my favorite Greek restaurant I've been to in Florida. Extremely close to UF campus, and locally owned this place is amazing. The portions are great, the owners are extremely nice and welcoming, but nothing beats the food. I always usually order either the Gyro or Chicken Souvlaki platter, and every-time the food is hot and fresh! Their Gyro meat is incredible, and the chicken is always juicy and well seasoned. The Greek salad is great too, they have a house Greek vinaigrette which is incredible.

If you are in the Gainesville area and looking for a great fast option, please give this place a try. Or if you are trying to decide whether or not to attend UF, having this place close by should make your decision for you.

We have moved away from Gainesville and had an opportunity to make a quick visit. We were worried that The Spot would be closed for summer and we would not be able to get some good Greek food. Fortunately, they reopened on the day we visited, June 15, 2019. We spoke with the owner and he said they would now be open until next summer in 2020.

The food, as usual, was very good and plentiful. I had the gyro platter which comes with a salad, gyros, pita, taziki and fries. Very tasty. My better half had a Greek salad with gyros. She was happy. I sent a picture top my son who used to live here and he was jealous.

This is a great place in Gainesville. Seek it out if you are visiting Gainesville. Support family owned local establishments when you can.

The Spot is located in Midtown Gainesville and serves Greek food with some additional American options.

    SERVICE (5/5):
The staff here is very friendly and makes sure you enjoy your experience.

    FOOD (4/5):
    My recommendations are listed below:
    - Chicken Souvlaki sandwich with a side of mixed veggies ($10)
    - Chicken Souvlaki combo ($11)
    - Gyro combo ($11)

    SEATING (3/5):
There are a few seats inside the restaurant but most seating is shared outside in a common area.

The Spot is...well, it's my spot. This is one of my go-to lunches during the work week. Service is quick, super affordable, and really good!

I'm a sucker for the chicken souvlaki--marinated & moist chicken, lettuce, cucumber, tomato & that addictive tzatziki sauce. The portion is pretty massive--I always struggle to finish the whole thing, as does my coworker, who is not someone known for leaving anything on his plate.

Not the greatest seating options, but I've never had an issue finding a table.

Is this the best souvlaki I've ever had? Maybe not. But it's consistent, it's quick, and it's damn good.

One of my favorite types of food is mediterranean/greek, so I had to try this place out!
Of course it did not fail!!
I got the gyro platter which was SO much food, in a good way of course. It comes with fries, pita, side salad, and the choice of meat that you choose for around $12. I was happily overwhelmed and excited about the food when it came out and it did not disappoint as I began to eat it.
The gyro meat was thinly sliced and great to dip into the taziki sauce.
I was a fan of mediterranean food when i walked in, and I am thankfully still a fan walking out.
